Vocus, Inc. Joins Email Sender and Provider Coalition (ESPC)

Helps Steer Dozens Dedicated to Preserving Email as a Legitimate Marketing Tool

LANHAM, Md., July 18, 2005 -- Vocus, Inc., a leading provider of on-demand software for corporate communications and public relations today announced that they have become a member of the Email Sender and Provider Coalition (ESPC).

The ESPC was formed in 2002 at the urging of a number of leading marketers and email service providers committed to preserving email as a legitimate marketing channel and to protecting this tool against the threat of spam and unscrupulous email marketing practitioners. The clear leader of the email sender community, the ESPC continues to work towards standards and policies that reward responsible email marketing and promote the long-term growth and viability of the industry.

Traditionally, the ESPC recognizes that there are two types of mass email senders, disruptive junk spam, and those who use it as a legitimate sales and commerce tool. However, Vocus, Inc. tends to lean toward a third category wherein their product is simply responsible for sending out legitimate messages and communications.

Vocus provides an integrated on-demand software suite for PR professionals. The Vocus on-demand software suite manages media and analyst relationships; interactive email campaigns; projects and news; files, documents and other collateral; and online newsrooms. The software also analyzes media coverage and other PR information to provide real-time feedback on the effectiveness of PR campaigns and early intelligence on trends unfolding in the press.

"Collectively, Vocus customers send out millions of emails per year related to legitimate and important corporate communications and public relations," said Rick Rudman, President and CEO of Vocus, Inc. "We are very concerned about the spread of disruptive spam, and our involvement with the ESPC guarantees that we will be at the forefront of the efforts to eliminate spam and protect the use of email as a viable communication tool."
