|Silverpop Participates in Microsoft Sender Authentication Summit
Members of the Email Sender and Provider Coalition Attend Summit
ATLANTA, August 9, 2004 - Silverpop, a leading provider of comprehensive permission-based email marketing solutions, today announced its participation in Microsoft's upcoming sender authentication summit.
Members of the Email Sender and Provider Coalition (ESPC), a group formed to fight spam while protecting the delivery of legitimate email, will join together on August 12 to meet with Microsoft's anti-spam, Hotmail, and MSN teams. As a member of the ESPC, Silverpop will participate in the summit, which will outline plans for "Sender ID," Microsoft's sender authentication protocol. Although there are several industry protocols for sender authentication, Sender ID will address the widespread problem of domain spoofing and provide greater protection against phishing schemes and spammers.
According to Microsoft, Sender ID will verify that each e-mail message originates from the Internet domain it claims to come from based on the sender's server IP address. Eliminating domain spoofing will help legitimate senders protect their domain names and reputations, and help recipients more effectively identify and filter junk email.
